All DSO Cooled Cameras need to be connected to an external 11-14v power supply to image.

ATR585C camera incorporates the advanced SONY IMX585 sensor, renowned for its exceptional imaging capabilities for both planetary and deep-sky objects. Engineered with an integrated heat dissipation structure and an efficient cooling module, it enables the image sensor to function at a temperature 45℃ lower than the ambient environment. With features including zero amp-glow, a minuscule pixel size, and a high dynamic range (HDR) mode. This camera is ideal for entry-level deep space photography, offering outstanding performance at a remarkably cost-effective price point.

ATR585C

Please remember: all ToupTek Astro DSO cooled cameras can only be powered by 12V3A DC power supply. We recommend using the power adapter that comes with the camera or a lithium-ion battery with stable output of 11-14V. Please do not use power supplies that have falsely stated specifications or unstable outputs to power the camera, as this may affect image capture or even damage the camera.

STARVIS 2

STARVIS refers to the backlight image sensor technology developed by Sony to improve low light characteristics and near-infrared sensitivity. STARVIS 2 improves dynamic range and near-infrared sensitivity compared to STARVIS1. Benefiting from it, ATR585C shows better performance.

Sensor Infor

ATR585C is a 1/1.2-inch optical format, 8.3-megapixel CMOS image sensor with a pixel size of 2.9um. lt offers high clarity and low-noise performance.

ATR585C

DDR3

ATR585C camera has a 512MB (4Gb) ultra-fast memory buffer to ensure stable image transmission.

ATR585C

Two stage TEC cooling system

ATR585C is designed with an integrated heat dissipation structure and an efficient cooling module. The cooling system of ATR585C features a two-stage Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) with controllable electric fan assisting in heat dissipation. This allows the image sensor to operate at temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius lower than the ambient temperature. The exposure time can be set for up to 1 hour, ensuring that every minute detail is captured. Even in summer, it can still run stably all night with cooling temperatures ranging from of -5°C to -10°C.

ATR585C

Zero Amp-Glow

ATR585C has been carefully designed and is able to achieve zero amp-glow photo shooting. This not only greatly reduces the generation of internal glow, but also effectively suppresses the interference of external light. It also enhances the stability and durability of the camera, which means you'll be able to capture sharper, cleaner images in both long and high exposure modes.

ATR585C

Anti-dew technology

ATR585C adopts the new anti-dew technology , which can effectively solve the condensation problem through heating.

This heating function consumes about 5 watts, which can be turned off via software to save power.

Additionally, The dew heater at the protection window has 4 adjustable levels, allowing users to find the heating power that best suits their needs.

Wonderful camera

Best value camera on the market

The sensor in this camera is really decent modern sensor, and although it's very small, the 16-bit HDR mode makes for a pleasant switch from a DSLR. Especially considering how low the price is compared to other manufacturers (often even cheaper than used ones) this is a no brainer for a first astro cam. Shipping to Poland was insanely quick (5 days over the weekend with FedEx Express) and of course free, with no additional customs fee.

[UPDATE]Good camera with reduced performance in the current firmware

UPDATE 18.07.2024:
After a positive reaction from Touptek and their guarantee to release a firmware update that fixes all the issues they finally gave me the new version (4.36) to test and analyse. Well, what can I say? The results are mindblowing! The engineering department could increase the dynamic range even further than before. We are talking about 15.56 stops of dynamic range with 0,6 electrons read noise and 16Bit, which is astonishing.

Touptek kept his promise and delivered a fix in record time. Thats the reason to increase my rating from 2 to 4 stars. My next step will be testing this camera under the stars. If it can deliver the performance the whole night in a stable manner, the rating will be 5 stars and my absolute recommendation.

I posted the new sharpcap analysis in the review. You can have a look.

Original review:
I was very excited to buy this camera because it is the newest sensor technology from Sony with dual gain ClearHDR, which captures a picture 16Bit with over 14 stops of dynamic range.

Its finish is high quality and the fan is extremely silent. No driver or compatibility problems, everything is fine. Until I did a sensor analysis. Touptek and some youtubers advertise this camera with 16Bit, 0,6 electrons read noise and over 14 stops dynamic range in HDR mode. You can read it in the official Touptek manual.

My sensor could only provide 14 Bit with almost double the read noise and a maximum of 14 stops DR. I thought I was wrong and wrote the technical engineering departement of Touptek via Mail. They verified my assumptions because of HDR problems in earlier firmware they had to release an update (Firmware 4.35) which locks you out at 14Bit and reduced HDR performance to guarantee stable sensor performance.

To be honest this information is disappointing to me because I bought this camera especially for the HDR mode @16Bit. Touptek does not provide a bulletin on their shop website or manual which describes the reduced performance in the current firmware.

I dont know if this sensor will get another update in the future which opens up the HDR mode again. And if yes, when it will be released.

I am thinking about refunding because of false advertising. I attached my sensor analysis result which the techincal dep. of Touptek also received from me.
